Childhood Sweethearts

Kathy tells the story just like it was yesterday.  Robert had just returned home from a trip when he became very nauseous.  She knew right away something wasn’t right.  By the time the ambulance got him to the hospital, her childhood sweetheart and the man she still adored was no longer the same person lying in the hospital bed in front of her.

Kathy and her family have been through many difficult times in the past year and a half.  However, Kathy and her children continue to lovingly take care of Robert day in and day out.  Instead of dwelling on the pain their hearts have felt, Kathy chooses to celebrate and enjoy their time with Robert.  bDSC_0146n

I glanced over at Kathy and witnessed the most beautiful picture of committment, kindness and love…

As the family all held hands for the last photo, I felt such a strong feeling of warmth and affection. bDSC_0188bw

Not only was I so honored to meet and photograph your family, I felt so blessed to see a true example of unconditional love.

Riley & Keegan

Jennifer and I met in kindergarten and have been friends ever since.  When I go back to Arizona, it’s always such a treat to stay with her family.  This time was VERY special!   Keegan was born just a few days before I arrived.

After shooting two days in a row, my favorite method of relaxation was coming home, putting on my pajamas (even when it was only 2pm) and curling up on the couch with Keegan.  Watching HGTV with a newborn baby on my belly was a vacation in itself! Untitled-1

We also took a few pictures of Riley and the family.

Can’t wait to see you all again!

Jack & Jenny

When you see Jack and Jenny, you’ll understand why I was so happy to update their photos again.

First off, can I show you why I love Jenny so much?   Before she gave me this shot…bDSC_0538n…she gave me these shots!
Untitled-2There’s just something about these kids I love.  I’ve tried to put my finger on it, but I think it all goes down to their incredibly wonderful and animated facial expressions.

Here’s a shot of Jack from our session a year ago.  This was one of my favorite of Jack because it made me really wonder what he was thinking about.  DSC_6780 copyThis year, Jack and I were sitting alone talking about movies when he gave me the same look I feel in love with last year…

This session was my last ‘official’ session from Arizona.  Thank you all who asked me to photograph you during my time back.  Meeting new families and photographing returning clients is one of the HIGHLIGHTS of my time in Arizona!

(For all of you who have emailed me about booking a session during my next trip to Arizona, I will keep you posted!  I plan to return again early 2010!)

Haleigh’s Senior Shoot

It’s getting pretty late here in Georgia, but I know Haleigh is ready to see a few of her images.  Hopefully, she’ll still be awake in Arizona! bDSC_0329bwShe is very interested in photography.  Between a mini Q&A (+) her senior session, we had a lot to cover!

Growing Up

When I turned the corner, I hardly recognized the little boy who was running towards me.  Our last session consisted of me laying in the floor beside him, constantly reminding myself that I should try to stop playing with his out-of-control, incredibly soft, newborn hair.  One thing that hasn’t changed since our last session… his many facial expressions!facesbDSC_0214n

If this little guy turns out half as wonderful mom, he’s going to be an amazing person.  DbSC_0285bwOne more of them together…

This might not be Story Board material, but I just love this series.  (I adore his eyes on the second image and tongue on the last one!)kiss

Chasing Boys

Nikki and Chris really wanted to update their family photos.  However, they both expressed concern with how their boys would cooporate during the session.  When I got an email from Chris saying, “Tommy is going to be impossible,” I totally understood their anxiety over having family pictures.  Does this sound familiar to anyone else?!?!

I’m sharing this because I think a lot of people out there share these same feelings.  I have found myself avoiding photographing Ross because I know what the outcome will be one of two things: HEAD DROP/AVOID EYE CONTACT or HUGE, FAKE smile.

Although it may be hard to get some kids to sit still and smile, I still encourage everyone to CAPTURE those MOMENTS!  Here’s one of my favorite shots of Tommy.  Although it’s not your ‘typical’ portrait, I love it because it’s a REAL smile and, better-yet, it represents Tommy’s energy and personality.

Chris & Nikki prefer natural photography.  I think this image reflects their relationship…

I have a few more I wanted to share, but I’m getting your entire gallery uploaded right now!  Thanks for asking me to photograph your fun, active, sweet and funny family.  I think you could see I had a great time with them!

The kid who does it all…

Is it possible for someone to make my job extremely easy, yet terribly difficult at the same time?  Nick does it to me each time I photograph him.  He always smiles, never blinks and brings along at least one personal object with him that tells a story about his hobbies and interests at the time.  (Two sessions ago, Nick brought his guitar along to our shoot!)

After a typical session with Nick, you’ll find me behind my computer trying to decide on which images to include.  Normally, I just post all of them and apologize to Nick’s family for his online viewing gallery having too many to choose from.bDSC_0099n

bUntitled-1bDSC_0016nbDSC_0138bw Not only is Nick photogenic, he is also sings, plays several musical instruments, does commercials and performs in The Sound of Music

Thank you, Nick!  It was so much fun to update your head shots and get caught-up on all the wonderful things in your life.
