I’m crazy about any lil’ girl who asks me to make her shrimp pasta, surprises me at the end of our session (see last photo!) and gives her brother REAL squeezes!
In Photoshop, I added extra space to this photo below. I’m going to show Jamie some printing options (ie: notepads, dry erase board, family cards, etc.) that would allow her to use that white margin area for notes. So many FUN & CREATIVE options with photos!
WAIT... we were JUST celebrating lil’ Cohen getting a baby brother, right?!?! Well, all of a sudden, baby Crew is SOOO big that my lower back starts tingling and going numb after holding him longer than 30 seconds.
Big… but cute and sweet! I dropped by his house for a few quick pictures before his morning nap. Icing on the cake… I got to hang with my cousin friend GURL, Libby and the biggest dog I know, Grizzly Bear.
Is it just ME or is it a challenge to REMEMBER,PLAN,SCHEDULE, BRIBE,FIND THE RIGHT OUTFIT,CHOOSE THE BEST LOCATION ‘get’ good photos of your child each year?
Yes, there’s certainly challenges; but, there’s not much that warms my heart more than looking back at meaningful photos of my child from each year.
Birthdays are a great milestone for scheduling photos! It’s easy to remember each year and a fun way to document the child’s personality.
A few weeks before Ruthie’s birthday this year, I gave her three choices. (I learned a LONG time ago with my other ‘strong-willed child’ that, if I wanted success, I must offer choices!)
“Ruthie? Do you want your photos to be…?”
* fun, bright, downtown Bentonville, ice-cream, fountain
* sunset, field, dreamy
* real-life, pajamas, Rusty, swim, HOME
Guess what MY girl choose?!?!?
YES! “REAL-LIFE!”

Guess what?!?! You aren’t allowed to over-think or plan outfits, locations or poses!
Did you see the video on Instagram of Cohen meeting his lil’ brother for the first time?!?! I was tickled that I got to see him climb into that big hospital bed, rub Crew’s head then kiss Libby on the lips! I was also tickled that I got to take some photos of their new family together at home! (I LOOOOVE photographing real life at home!)

I’ll let you in on a secret…
Each time I go back to Georgia, you can find me in 1 of 3 spots: my grandparent’s living room, my parent’s kitchen or my sister’s couch. (Okay, maybe add The Cheesecake Factory, since we don’t have one in NW Arkansas.) Regardless… most of the week is spent in pajamas “work-out clothes” with my family.
The one exception is the day I get to put on make-up and normal clothes and do the thing that gives me SO much JOY… photography! Since most of my clients have been with me for years and years, it’s almost the SAME as spending time with FAMILY!
Mack, Maya, Mack, Bear and Maya are perfect examples! (You know me… I couldn’t resist doing a baby-Maya and current-Maya side-by-side photo together at the end of this post!)

When Matt and Catalina said our time together each year is their “tradition,” I was VERY excited! Not only do I LOVE traditions, I LOVE photographing this incredible family! In terms of sweet families and siblings, these guys are at the top of the list!
