Slowing Down this Sunday

“I think it should be a law that everyone has to take a nap on Sunday.”
-Connie Aaron (my mom)

Sunday is my birthday.
On Sunday, I am going to church and eating fried shrimp for lunch.
On Sunday, I am taking a nap when the kids take a nap.
On Sunday, I am hiking a mountain.  (Well, since we’ll have a 1-year old and a 3-year old with us, we’ll probably only be picking up sticks and rocks at the lowest point of a walking trail.  But, that just doesn’t sound as exciting as hiking a mountain.)

On Sunday, I am turning my computer off.  Yes, it’s been years since I went a day without emails and orders, but, I’m taking the day off on Sunday to relax, enjoy the family and this PERFECT weather!

If you have any questions about your order, future sessions or products, email or call me on Friday or Saturday.

What is a Gallery-Wrapped Canvas?

A Gallery-Wrapped Canvas is a high quality print on artist canvas.
The canvas is stretched over custom made wood supports.
Although you can frame your canvas,
the image will certainly stand out without the distraction of a frame.
The canvas is ready for hanging.
So, once it arrives at your door, you’re ready to showcase it!

To view how YOUR image would look on a canvas,
simply email me the proof number(s) you’d like to see!

Story Boards

“What’s a Story Board?”
I get this question a lot, so, instead of trying to explain it, I thought I’d post examples of my Story Boards.  As you can see, some emphasize a special image, while others can feature numerous photos.  Any of these designs can be turned or flipped.  In my opinion, it looks best to keep all of the images either color or black and white.  Each Story Board will be printed on the same incredible paper (Kodak Professional Supra Endura) as your other prints and enlargements.  The black border is used for blog-viewing only.  It will not be printed on the Story Board.  If you feel overwhelmed with options, feel free to tell me your favorite images and I’ll put together a few examples for you.

Linda & her girls

I love, love, love taking pictures of babies and little children.  However, I was reminded during this shoot just how EASY teens and adults are to photograph.  (It’s so weird… I pulled out my camera out and they just stood there and smiled.  Considering I spend all of my time either chasing my own children or others, their behavior was very strange to me.)
Linda wanted some photos of her and her four beautiful daughters.  Each of her daughters are all very talented.  They are very close, so photographing them was really easy.  They were just themselves and the love shined through on all of their photographs.

Mike, Renee, Owen & Evan

Renee’s son was having the same kind of moment my son has everytime I get my camera out to photograph him.  It’s the ‘not only are you NOT going to get a smile, you’re probably about to get a melt-down.’  It happens.  Kids are kids.  Sometimes they don’t enjoy having someone they don’t know chase them around with a camera.
I was happy to see I DID get smiles and some of their very expressive faces!

Super Tuesday… Time to Vote!

When I photographed families in Georgia several months ago, I created a fun poll in order to give away some FREE prizes. I was surprised at the number and votes and participation. (I am expecting even MORE than last time! We can beat 600 votes, right?)

In order to get everyone excited, I have raised the bar…

The WINNER will receive:
(1) Story Board (up to 22×14)
(1) Wall Portrait (up to 11×14)
(1) Gift Print (up to 5×7)

2nd Place will receive:
(1) 8×10
(1) Gift Print (up to 5×7)

Send out an email asking for votes!
Recruit your friends, family and co-workers!
Poll ends in a little over a week.
On November 18th (noon, Mountain Time Zone), we will find out who wins these great prizes!
Good Luck!!!

Corey & Maggie

I did it!  I finished all 14 sessions from Georgia in two weeks flat.  I had my doubts.  But, I’m very proud of myself.  (For everyone thinking, “What’s the big deal?”  Let me tell ya… it takes longer than you think to go through hundreds of images (just from one session), choose, make adjustments, upload Sneak Peeks and load into a gallery.)  I will get the 4 sessions from last weekend posted this week.  So, stay tuned!  Also, check back from a FUN wedding I shot yesterday.

Back to my reason for a new post…. My last session from Georgia was Corey and Maggie.  They, like several other families, came (way) out of their way to meet me.  (I still can’t believe people are willing to drive well over an hour for me to photograph them.)  But, they were a treat.  This session began several months ago as simply ‘together’ shots.  But, it ended up being an ENGAGEMENT shoot.  (Corey proposed a few weeks before our shoot!)  Congratulations, Corey & Maggie!
