  • Christy… The Girl Behind the Lens

Every great success story starts with a dream. For me, my dream was to always have a camera in hand and a great story behind every shot. In Kindergarten, it was bringing my camera to Show N’ Tell when everyone else brought toys. In middle school, it was getting to know the employees at my local photo lab. In high school, it was an essay I wrote about my 'dream job' of being a photographer.

I have been truly fortunate to watch my lifelong passion of photography bloom into a career and source of happiness in my life. Part of that happiness comes from my love of children and embracing that in my business. My adoration for kids allows me to engage them in a way that makes sessions feel more like a play-date! Whether it’s chasing them around trees or fields, chatting with them about their favorite flavor of ice cream or watching them laugh while I make a funny face, I find it truly uplifting to be a part of their world.

In the same way that every picture tells a story, so too does my blog. I use it to capture pieces of both my professional and personal life. It includes client session photos, engaging stories behind those clients, and even little glimpses into my own family, friends and interests. The curls in my daughter's hair and the cool rock my son found are just a few of the things that inspire me every day!

Family Beach Trip

Anyone else look forward to one, particular trip EVERY year?!?! That’s exactly how I feel about our family’s summer BEACH TRIP! My grandparents are so sweet to bless my parents, my family and my sister’s family with a wonderful week by the ocean. Each year is filled with wonderful memories, but I think THIS year […]

Strawberry Picking (11.0)

Anyone else love family traditions?!?! Eleven years ago, my mom planned our first trip to pick strawberries. We all loved it SO much, we continued the tradition each season. During my time in Arkansas (even though it was kind-of sad), I tried to continue our strawberry-picking tradition. So naturally, with us ALL back together in […]

“Cheapest Photographer”

I’m convinced Matthew would do just about anything for me. But every birthday when I tell him I’d like a professional photography session of our family, he just smiles and says, “Ohhhh, YOU just need to take them!” If I insisted, I know he’d agree. But at this point, it’s just become a funny tradition. […]

A Second Chance

A rush of kids quickly filled a small room and began to zoom around the tiny chairs that, just minutes before their arrival, were all neatly tucked into matching, plastic tables.  Parents had  finished ushering their children through the door.  Some were looking forward to their weekly playtime.  While others required a gentle push from […]

The Light Between Oceans (My thoughts on the book)

BOOK: The Light Between OceansAUTHOR: M.L. Stedman SUMMARY: Filled with historical dates and places, much of this book read like a historical novel. However, there wasn’t a page that wasn’t overflowing with real, HEAVY and heartbreaking emotion. It’s a story of a light-house keeper and his new wife who is eager to start a family. […]

New York Girl’s Trip

For my mom’s birthday, my sister and I thought it would be SUPER FUN to do a GIRL’S TRIP! We wrote her a poem for her special day and, before we knew it, our backpacks were loaded and we were getting dropped off at the airport! I knew we would have a blast together, but […]

Kelli & her crew…

Kelli’s my girl. We met in kindergarten. (Here’s that photo I took of her when I brought in a camera for Show-N-Tell!) She was so sweet to drive F-O-R-E-V-E-R away to come see me. I’m a bit sentimental, but I loved taking her kid’s photos on the land between my parent’s and grandparent’s house because […]
