Rayna ended up in bed between us early in the night. In addition to her sleeping side-ways, every hour or so she would either lose her ‘Baby’ or try to wake Matthew up to play.
Just a few hours later, Ross woke-up crying because all the ice was melted in the water beside his bed. When he came into our room, devastated about the loss of his ice, he spotted Rayna.
At 3pm, I guess Ross didn’t consider our Queen-sized bed not being big enough for 2 adults, a side-ways sleeper and himself.
Time to make room for one more person.
After the third time of me almost falling out of bed, in the wee hours of the morning, I relocated myself and Rayna to the guest room downstairs.
Sleepless nights… tossing and turning… babies crying…
It’s all worth it to wake-up to this…
Amanda- She’s doing much better. Thanks for the advice on Saturday. I was so upset b/c her fever has never been that high. Anyways, aside from getting her teeth cleaned by the dentist, she’s had a pretty good day!

Gorgeous picture, I am jealous of the baby blues too!!!!
When I was a little girl and would spend hours riding my go-cart, Amanda sat beside me.
A few years later, when my dad had an asthma attack in the car and we drove as fast as we could to the hospital, Amanda was buckled in right there beside me.
When a public pool had to be evacuated as a result of someone burping in my face and me throwing-up in the water, Amandacaused itwas right there beside me.
When I said ‘I Do,’ with flowers in her hand, Amanda stood right there beside me.
Years ago when I told Amanda I wanted to start my own photography business and needed ‘models’ to build my portfolio, she went over and beyond. She got releases from the children’s parents she was babysitting, drove them all to our shoot and told everyone she talked to about my business. Amanda was still beside me.
Seconds before and just a few moments after I delievered Ross, everyone else followed the doctors as they took Ross away, but Amanda sat down on my hospital bed and stayed right there beside me.
When I was all packed-up to move across the country to Arizona, Amanda, and her tears, were there beside me.
Mine and Amanda’s parents had been friends before Amanda and I were born. Because of that, there has never been a time when Amanda has not been in my life. Not only is Amanda one of my biggest fans, she’s also very loyal. During the time we were in Arizona, she didn’t have any photography done of her family and boys. We were LONG overdue for a session!
I’ll start with one of my favorite images. Aside from Presley being extremely free-spirited (which I absolutely adore), he is truly a happy, happy child. I’ve been known to get a little deep with my interpretations, but, to me, this image represents JOY at its purest.
Cash is like his big brother- very happy and VERY cute!
Family portraits can be some of the most challenging shots of the entire session. If there’s more than one child, any children under the age of eight OR a furry, 4-legged friend, that just kicks everything up a notch. Don’t worry- I AM a professional! I can pretend to give myself a mild concussion (making the little kids smile), while barking like a dog (making the dog very confused, YET focused) AND remind the parents to KEEP looking at me and smiling. All in the same breath.
That’s a sweet hug!
We let the kids play and got a few of Amanda and Paul together…
Cash was taking a break from pictures and changing outfits, but this face was just too wonderful not to photograph!
I think it’s really important to document stages and ‘things’ that are important to children. For Presley, it is his blanket. I want to not only capture a child’s smile, but the very things and emotions that their parents will always long to remember.
Wow! I had to wipe my eyes to even look at the pictures, thanks for making me sound “good”! I knew they would be perfect and they are! You did amazing like always, I love the picture of Paul and I in the background, it was even better that I had envisioned! I love you and thanks for being there for me, and ALL that you have done for us! P.S.- the broccoli casserole was just like yours!– YOUR AN AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHER BUT MORE THAN THAT, AN AMAZING FRIEND! Love, Amanda

OK so this is Amy NOT Amanda. But it filled in Amanda’s info automatically….Anyway, GREAT pictures Christy. I love the one with Duke too. He’s so handsome!!! And of course I have the most handsome nephews ever too….don’t know where they get their looks from can’t be hereditary or anything. HAHAHAHA!!!! It’s always nice to have a dependable friend who is there for you unconditionally and loves you just the way you are. And Christy and Amanda have that kind of friendship. At least she calls Christy back……

I’m tearing up. Those precious angels….these pictures are perfect! You are all such beautiful people….and you captured the beauty of the Wade family perfectly. You are an amazing photographer!
MEET JILL: Jill saw a session I did for one of her friends last year. Like a lot of people, it had been a while since she had professional photographs taken of her two children. She was eager to schedule, excited about the session AND willing to drive an hour for the shoot. Needless to say, I was really looking forward to meeting her and her kids.
Now, MEET GRIFFIN: Although this picture doesn’t show it, Griffin eventually came to love me. (I’ll prove it later.) At this point, however, he only loved his mom.
Carley was a different story. We were BFF from the beginning. (Doesn’t she look a little like a young and prettier version of Jennifer Aniston?)
Jill only had one request. She wanted a photograph of Griffin on his dad’s old John Deer tractor. I love photographing kids with items that have been in the family for generations.
One of the kids together…
The kids alone…
I really love this picture of the kids together.
I knew I could win Griffin’s heart. It just took some work!
My heart naturally gravitates towards images of a mom and her kids. Although Jill said she just wanted photographs of the kids, I had to get a few of her too!
One last picture of Carley…
Thank you, Jill! I hope you guys had as much fun as I did!
Matthew and I were REALLY excited about taking Ross to his FIRST baseball game…
We were so excited, in fact, we arrived over an hour early.
NOTE TO SELF: If you’re taking a 3-year old to a baseball game (OUTDOORS) (IN JULY), don’t arrive over an hour early if you want to stay for more than one inning.
The first 20 minutes were great. Ross jumped on the giant Spiderman….
I handed the camera to Matthew where Ross and I could get some pictures together…
We were there for just enough time to get on the big screen!
We had been in our seats about 20 minutes when Ross told Matthew, “I’m ready to go. I’m tired. See…” (as he opens his mouth as much as possible and attempts to make a yawning-sound)
Oh well.
We went (kind-of).
We ate peanuts and ice cream.
I officially marked ‘Take Ross to a baseball game’ off my list.
More than anything, Matthew and I got to spend some much-needed one-on-one time with Ross. That in itself was worth a $3.50 Coke!
What great pics! Matthew did a great job, I love the one’s of you and Ross. The one of the screen is great, but my favorite would HAVE to be the first shot! LOVE IT!!
Debby FergusonJuly 31, 2009 - 1:27 pm
I love these pictures of Ross’ first ball game! You have such an awesome way of expressing things. You really should be a writer! You are just so passionate about things and it comes through – that is so rare and refreshing. Really great picture of you and Ross too, and the close up of him – Matthew did a great job!
Somewhere between my week in Arkansas and spending the following week alone with Matthew in Florida, I managed to make it home in just enough time to repack my bags, sleep in my own bed and, oh, a SESSION!
To give the boys a little more sleeping time, we decided to do the session at their home. Between the wrap-around porch, huge yard and gorgeous shade tree and swing, I couldn’t imagine doing it anywhere else!
I’m not even going to lie… I LOVE walking into a client’s house and seeing tons of framed prints from our previous sessions together. It makes me feel great to know they loved the images as much as I did!
Speaking of not enough sleeping time… It DID take the boys a little time to warm up to the idea of their photograph being taken so early in the morning.
Another early-morning shot… These boys have some great expressions. I think their eyes speak a thousand words.
This family is always easy and fun to photograph…
NOW the boys are starting to enjoy themselves…
Back to the baby…
Hudson and Hayden are very excited about their new brother… HUDSON!Why are you so cute?!?!?!? (Sorry for that outburst. I just want to eat him up sometimes.)
I like how he’s curling his toe. It’s all about the details!
We waited until the ‘end’ to let the boys do some finger-painting on Farrah’s belly. Now…
Painted shirts off…
Session is officially over… (yeah right)
Only 2 Goals:
1. Play Hard
2. Find, chase and capture the kitty cat. (Can you see every hair on this kitty’s body is standing straight up? I LOVE IT!)
I adore this swing. I must have talked about it a lot because Farrah and Chad invited me to come back and photograph Ross and Rayna on it. (I plan to take them there in the fall. Can you imagine how beautiful it will be with all the changing leaves?)
What a great way to end a session:
Adorable brothers… shirtless… on an old swing at their house… just having fun.
I realize I’m partial to shirtless little boys in the country, but, this shot was a great way to end our awesome session together!
Beautiful pictures. Can’t wait to do some belly shots with you later on.
Amy PooleJuly 16, 2009 - 2:26 pm
Great pictures of my boys!!!! They are just too cute anyway but how can they not be cute with their cute parents as well. I haven’t seen Charrah in about 4 or 5 months so these are a welcome update on how they are doing!! You are still the best photographer I know.
Hannah SimsJuly 17, 2009 - 8:33 am
I love the belly and hands shot! The kitty-cat is totally cute too.
Part of the reason Ryan is so cute to me is because, most importantly, he is also very nice, smart and sweet. The other reason I think it’s okay to blog about his cuteness is because he reminds me so much of Matthew. They did, afterall, spend most of their childhood together.
Not only is Ryan cute, he also has a really big heart. He loves animals- specifically his dog, Windsor. Ryan has taken care of Windsor since he was a puppy. Windor has had a great life; however, his health has recently declined. So much, in fact, Ryan’s mom and girlfriend thought it would be nice to capture a few images of Ryan and Windsor together.
Libby, Ryan’s girlfriend, came along for the shoot. Speaking of cute…
Libby is WAY too photogentic to not get some camera time!
I love him sooo much! He is by far my favorite cousin! He is so sweet and funny, and just a teddy bear! I love him! Great pictures Christy, but you had a handsome subject.
Cheryl McCorryAugust 8, 2009 - 10:39 pm
He is as cute and as cuddly as a teddy bear but I’m his Momma so I am predjudice. I loved all the things you and Michelle said about him and Windsor. Windsor is the most important person in his life and when I say person I mean person. It has been Ryan’s first born and I love to see the adoration in Windsor’s eyes when Ryan is around him.
It’s possible these last posts and images will make you want to quit your job, move to the country and spend every day enjoying the world through a child’s eyes. At least, that’s what happens to me every year after I’ve spent time here on the farm.
This is of Ross and Rayna coming out of the cave together at Crystal Lake. I could over-analyize how symbolic this image is to me in terms of Ross and Rayna facing the outside-world together. I could go on, but I will spare you and just say I love this picture of them together.
There are four things that are abundant here: 1. horses 2. chickens 3 & 4: cows & flies(see below)
Another trip to my favorite location. Rayna loves her Granddaddy! Rayna in her Nana’s hat at the pool…
Here’s is a secret about how my strange brain works:
No matter WHERE I am or WHAT I’m doing, I see everything in terms of photography.
Confused? Here are a few examples just from today:
I see a watermelon on the counter and instantly say to Michelle, “We need to take a picture of Kenslee eating a slice on the front porch with just a diaper on.”
We’re riding the 4-wheeler and pass a gorgeous open field with an over-aboundance of wildflowers. It’s midnight and I’m STILL kicking myself that I didn’t take Rayna there for a few quick pictures.
Okay, you get my point. Well, last month when I was here photographing a wedding, I barely caught a glance of these old mailboxes on an old dirt road. I didn’t have my camera with me, so this trip, Matthew and I drove all around until I found those old mailboxes I fell in love with.
Which brings me to my next image. It’s old, which I love. It’s country, which I love. It paints a picture of simple times.
I love love love the mailboxes. It looks exactly like the mailboxes between my Grandmother’s and my house growing up in Louisiana. I totally get the symbolism of the cave picture:)
